Beginning April 5th, 2011 Cal-Trans will advertise all major projects electronically, This is great news for the construction community and for CalTrans. This will streamline the bidding process and allow anyone to view the current bids that are available to contractors. They have also created a “Bidders Exchange” that will help facilitate contractors through the bidding process. Districts 1-6, 9 & 10 can also expect some new and exciting changes. The plans counter will move to 1727 30th St in Sacramento in the beginning of June.
Additionally, the bid opening location will move to Farmers Market 3 in the beginning of July. All plans and specs can be accessed electronically and Cal Trans will stop sending these out in the beginning of April. These are exciting new changes that will facilitate bidders, cut down on administrative costs and benefit the environment.
